In the wake of the recent financial crisis, American households have shown greater interest in improving their financial management skills to help them endure the weakened economic environment. A study conducted by Mintel Comperemedia in October 2009 found that 75% of American adults were interested in increasing their financial knowledge due to the downturn in the economy. Efforts to assist these consumers need not be limited to what we typically think of when we talk about financial education: classroom-based interventions, websites, and pamphlets centered on financial topics.
